History

The Gimlet was originally a gin-and-lime cocktail born aboard British Royal Navy ships in the 19th century, where lime cordial was issued to sailors to prevent scurvy. The Vodka Gimlet emerged later, gaining popularity in the mid-20th century as vodka rose to prominence in American bars during the 1950s and 1960s. By the time Ian Fleming’s era of cocktail culture took hold, vodka-based variations of classic gin drinks — including the Gimlet — had earned a permanent place on the back bar. MurLarkey’s version uses Divine Clarity Vodka, distilled for an exceptionally smooth and clean profile that’s tailor-made for this stripped-down classic.
