We are pleased to announce that The Prince William County Human Rights Commission has honored MurLarkey Distilled Spirits with a Human Rights Award for MurLarkey’s rapid response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are incredibly humbled by this honor from the county, and for MurLarkey’s entry and recognition in the US Congressional record by the Hon. Gerald E. Connolly along with our fellow county honorees.
Background: Shortly after the initial lock-downs started in March of 2020, MurLarkey realized the desperate need for hand sanitizer. Our team immediately jumped to action and started production. For our initial public distribution (covered by WJLA – link), we used ziploc baggies because we could not find bottles on such short notice. The public did not care. In fact they cheered. As the pandemic continued, we continued producing sanitizer (packaging in 4 oz bottles) and giving it away for free to anyone in need.
MurLarkey went on to produce over 1000 gallons of W.H.O. formula hand Sanitizer and provided it to thousands of Prince William County (and surrounding areas’ residents). Furthermore, our team worked tirelessly to meet the bulk needs of Prince William County, City of Manassas, Fairfax County; their EMS operations, first responders, healthcare networks, schools, churches and even the US Secret Service and FBI by providing them with 5 gallon buckets and up to 200 gallon totes of sanitizer in an effort to do our part in the war on COVID.
We did this not to make money but simply because it was the right thing to do. I cannot speak highly enough about our wonderful MurLarkey team who stepped up to this challenge. We’re honored by this award and hope our efforts helped in some small way.
