History

Ranch Water traces its roots to West Texas, where it’s long been the go-to drink for ranchers and outdoor types looking for something easy and refreshing in the desert heat. The classic build — tequila, lime, and Topo Chico sparkling mineral water in the bottle — is widely associated with the Big Bend region of Texas, with origin stories attached to the Ranch 616 restaurant in Austin and various Marfa-area watering holes. The drink broke out of Texas during the 2010s and became a national hit by the early 2020s. MurLarkey’s version reimagines it with Salsa Borracha Vodka and pineapple juice for a fruitier, spicier American craft take.
