History

The classic Mint Julep is one of the oldest American cocktails, dating to the late 1700s when it was prescribed as a morning eye-opener in the American South. It was popularized as a bourbon-based drink in Kentucky and became forever tied to the Kentucky Derby, where it has been the official cocktail since 1938. The Peach Julep is a Southern-inflected variation that swaps in peach — the South’s signature stone fruit, especially associated with Georgia and South Carolina orchards — for a sweeter, fruitier take. MurLarkey’s version uses Three Tea Whiskey instead of bourbon, adding a smooth, tea-infused backbone that makes this Julep distinctly its own.
