Brutality Cask #26
“Festivus”
In a collaboration between craftsmanship and time-honored traditions, we entrusted a decanted Heritage Whiskey barrel to the skilled artisans at Tucked Away Brewing in Manassas. Within its seasoned oak, they carefully nurtured a Stout, infusing it with the essence of the barrel's whiskey past. After botting their brew, they returned the barrel to us and we poured into it our own creation, Mashbill #2 whiskey—a harmonious blend of 70% corn, 20% rye, and 10% apple and cherry wood smoked malted barley. Over the course of four patiently endured years, this exquisite alchemy of grains and barrel yielded a whiskey of unparalleled depth and character.
With meticulous care, we then proofed down the whiskey to its ideal bottling proof with Ornery Brewing’s Vienna Lager. The resulting elixir is a testament to the artistry of both brewers and distillers, a spirit that beckons connoisseurs with the promise of an unparalleled autumnal indulgence.
In the glass, this unique creation unveils itself with a medium amber hue, reminiscent of the golden hues of fall. The olfactory senses are greeted by a symphony of aromas—roasted malts, the richness of chocolate, the comforting scent of baked apples, all interwoven with the delicate fragrance of vanilla and a subtle whisper of hops.
As the first sip caresses the palate, it unveils a complex tapestry of flavors—a delightful dance between cocoa and vanilla, their sweetness gracefully giving way to a vibrant spiciness that awakens the senses. The journey concludes on a note of sweet malt, its lingering presence a testament to the enduring legacy of flavors bestowed by time and expertise.
In every aspect, this whiskey embodies the spirit of fall—a season of richness, warmth, and subtle transition. A sip of this remarkable creation is an invitation to savor the essence of autumn, a celebration of craftsmanship, and a tribute to the art of fine distillation. Truly, it is a masterpiece meant to be savored, offering a resplendent experience to those who appreciate
the exquisite nuances of a finely crafted spirit.
